About

Adrian Harris standing beside a lamppost on a small-town sidewalk, parked cars and brick storefronts behind him.

I photograph the overlooked and the absurd — worn faces, strange moments, empty streets at night that feel like a recollection from a dream.

Some of it’s film, some digital — whatever the shot needs. When it’s film, I develop and scan it myself, at home. I like the ritual. The picture still matters more.

I shoot from low a lot — knee height, sometimes under. It puts you in the street with people instead of looking down at them.

I don’t title the photographs. I’m not trying to make things beautiful. I’m trying to capture people accurately. That’s the whole thing.
